A small, dedicated, and focused group coming together daily to study and contemplate the timeless wisdom of Sanatana Dharma.
These sessions are Free of Charge and open to all those who are dedicated to learn.
The purpose of Sacred Swadhyaya is not only to understand scripture intellectually but also to integrate its wisdom into our daily living, making the study both meaningful and transformative.
As part of The Sacred Grove Foundation's initiatives, we have established our Self-Study Group, known as Sacred Swadhyaya.
This is a small, dedicated, and focused group coming together daily to study and contemplate the timeless wisdom of the Sanatana Dharma.
Each session includes:
20 minutes of study, with 10 minutes of silent contemplation to internalise the teachings.
Reflection on key points from the text and their deeper meaning.
Practical application of these insights in day-to-day life, fostering inner transformation.
In addition, we meet once a week to share key learnings, inspirations, and feedback on how these teachings are influencing and shaping our lives.
Benefits of Sacred Swādhyāya
In Sanātana Dharma, Swādhyāya means “self-study” — particularly of sacred texts, mantras, and spiritual teachings. It is one of the five niyamas (disciplines) in Patañjali's Yoga Sūtras, and is considered both a form of devotion and a powerful tool for inner transformation.
Deepens Spiritual Understanding
Regular study of scriptures such as the Upaniṣads, Bhagavad Gītā, Yoga Sūtras, or stotrams provides insight into eternal truths, helping practitioners connect philosophical principles with their own lives.
Strengthens Discipline & Focus
Engaging in Swādhyāya requires dedication and consistency. This cultivates mental discipline, focus, and the ability to reflect deeply.
Purifies the Mind
The vibrations of chanting scriptures and mantras, combined with reflective study, gradually cleanse negative thought patterns and nurture sattva (clarity and harmony).
Guides Self-Reflection
Swādhyāya is not just reading but also self-inquiry — contemplating how teachings apply to one's thoughts, actions, and daily life. It becomes a mirror that guides personal growth.
Connects Individual with the Divine
Tradition teaches that through Swādhyāya, one comes closer to Īśvara (the Divine). Chanting and studying mantras such as Om Namaḥ Śivāya or sacred stotrams is considered a direct offering to the Divine.
Supports Meditation & Inner Silence
Scriptural study and mantra repetition prepare the mind for meditation, quieting distractions and deepening awareness of the Self (ātman).
Promotes Holistic Well-being
Modern studies support that scriptural chanting improves memory, concentration, reduces stress, and fosters emotional balance — aligning with the ancient belief that sacred sounds heal body and mind.
The current group has started Swadhyaya on Srimad Bhagavatam.
